Get Creative with Clay

Fun and Creative

Looking for a fun way for your class or group to get creative whilst learning?
Clay or painting workshops from GYPC could be just what you need!
We travel to groups and schools across Norfolk and Suffolk providing stimulating workshops in coil, clay work and art.
The emphasis of the classes is to encourage the children whilst at the same time having fun! Better still, whatever the children make can be taken home at the end of the day.

One of the most exciting, rewarding, challenging and enchanting projects we have ever undertaken was in collaboration with the staff and pupils of St. George's Infant and Nursery School in 2014.

The children, along with members of staff, in consultation with and under the guidance of Karen and Ernie, designed from scratch a mural depicting the many facets of life in our town.

Each small group worked on a specific story panel of the mural so that they will forever be able to identify the section of the mural that they were responsible for creating.

After the design stage they came to Great Yarmouth Potteries where they translated their designs into hand carved master tiles, and each story panel consisted of .... individual tiles. The mural consists of .... individual tiles making up the .... story panels.

When all the tiles were carved, they were fired in the kilns at Great Yarmouth Potteries before the hand painting stage.

Each tile was painstakingly decorated and glazed before being fired.

Meeting your needs

Workshops can be tailored to meet the curriculum/syllabus needs; tie into school events; or to help work towards a craft or artist badge.

Great Value

The cost of each session is from £55 (maximum of 20 children) and this includes both the tuition and all the materials and tools required for the class.
This is available to after-school clubs such as our 'clay, create and paint your work' sessions.
An additional charge of 40p per mile is made to cover fuel costs if the school is further than 10 miles from Great Yarmouth.

Our Unique Sessions

The sessions last approximately 55 minutes (including 10 minutes to set up and clear away) and can either be a one-off class, or a series of classes geared to the development of key skills.

The classes are specifically tailored both to the age group being taught and an individual's learning abilities.

Staff require no experience at all but (as experience has shown) are more than welcome to join in the fun!
